Speculation is rife that Metro FM has suspended DJ Sbu. Two independent sources have told DRUM that the urban radio station suspended DJ Sbu after he allegedly failed to stand-in for his colleague, Tbo Touch, resulting in Siphokazi January filling in for an hour before the Touchdown Drive’s producer took over.
This comes amid reports that the record label owner and author, real name Sbu Leope, defied the rules of the station during the Metro FM Music Awards held in Durban this past weekend, when he advertised his energy drink MoFaya. This left Happy Ngidi, the station’s publicity manager, hot under the collar and she told the Sowetan newspaper that “there would be consequences because what Sbu did was not allowed and not part of the brief”. DJ Sbu’s phone also rang unanswered and he too didn’t reply to questions sent to him.
