Work in the wait By Ashley Thekiso @AshOfCeremonies                                                                                       [Program Director/MC, Entrepreneur & Freelance Writer] Eyta ma peeps:   What are you guys doing today? I can feel most of you already answering something like; ‘we are waiting for bursaries/sponsorships/funding/parents to get back to us’. The Flop with just waiting is that it makes waiting seem so much longer than it actually is. The most successful people in the world are as productive as they are because they ensure they are busy getting ready for their success by equipping themselves with knowledge before the success actually comes. What I am going to talk about today is; what you are doing while waiting for the dream to materialize.   God will work with you; and yes he is an artist so your crafting will take time, your learning will take time and your end product may come at a point where you feel like giving up. God does not do things according to how quick you want your success but he does things according to how ready you are for success. Things fall in place when you show how capable you are of handling yourself at a higher and better position in life than you currently are. Discipline is one of the most important aspects of success followed by attitude and a tremendous amount of work ethic. Hard work does not stop when shops close or when the office door is shut; hard work means going further than the rest and doing more than average to achieve more than average results. Doing more also means working at your craft before you get the opportunity to showcase it otherwise you may not be ready. The leaders of the athletic society practice for hours each and every day to perfect their craft because they understand how important it is for them to perform well and even after they have won countless trophies they will continue to work on their craft.   The key take away here is that you do not ever stop going and you do not ever stop pushing your hustle. Do not think that when you are the best you will be the best in your industry forever. You need to keep getting better and growing in life so that even those that come after you can see you as an example of pure hard work and discipline driven performance. When you pause or take a break imagine who is catching up, imagine who is passing you and getting better while you relax, think about how you are slacking behind by taking what is popularly referred to as a ‘hole-in-a-day’ holiday. Choose rather to shorten the chill and sharpen the hustle with a book on the beach; I am not saying do not rest but all Ash is saying is that keep the focus intact and find some way to be productive while you wait; learn something that will help you when you get to the top.     It is up to us to oil up the economic engine of South Africa, let’s pay our dues in this game so that when we finally make it; it is worth it. We have been given this freedom by those who came before us; the least we can do is prove that we deserve it.                   Existence is given; Life is a choice – Ashley Thekiso
