by Matshidiso If you are a South African, then 24th of February 2016 is National Budget Speech day. The new Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, who is also former minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional affairs will be the centre of attraction as he will be giving the annual budget speech. We were in disbelief as President Jacob Zuma made history by firing his initial first choice, an unknown Desmond Van Rooyen and appointing Gordhan to be our new finance minister. The president took us by suprise when he fired Nhlanhla Nene from his post without giving us any explanation whatsoever. The chaos that erupted at this year`s State of the Nation Adress is due to some of the grievances felt by the opposition parties. They needed someclarity on some of the action undertaken by President Jacob Zuma. Moving from the pain felt by the citizens of South Africa, and confusion, everyone is awaiting to heart how Pravin Gordhan is looking into allocating the funds of which most is taxpaye`s money. With the drought and water crisis taking a toll on our ecenomy, the food prizes increasing from a night sleep, to our people suffering without proper sanitation. Everything seems to be just a mess, even our rands isn`t quite stable. Annual budget speech briefs people on the finances of the counrty. How money is going to be allocated amongst different Departments. ” We`ll have to make some tough decisions about how we run the finances of the contry. “I can assure you that we are working together on a budget that is credible and can inspire confidence in our country”- Minister Pravin Gordhan on 702 Talk Radio.
