As a student, you spend a lot of time studying. You hit the books hard and seem to be constantly working on strict deadlines. It’s stressful. And that’s why it’s important you have a little fun sometimes. The thing is, entertainment often comes with a price tag. Living on a student budget isn’t easy and finding the cash to go out can be difficult, especially towards the end of the month. However, it’s not impossible to have fun without wasting cash. Here are some examples of cheap ways to enjoy your free time.    Go on a picnic If you want hang around with your friends and eat some yummy food without spending too much cash, picnics are the answer. Everyone brings some sort of snack or treat and a blanket. It’s so much cheaper than cooking for a bunch of people or going out for a meal. And preparation is easy. Just make sure to check the weather before you plan the event.   Host a movie night Why sit at home watching movies alone when you can make a night of it with your friends? Choose a theme (cheesy horror movies are always a winner) and get everyone to bring their favourite snack. Stock up on blankets and pillows and get comfy. Just make sure nobody has seen any of the films you choose as you don’t want any spoilers. Get active Okay, maybe going to the gym may not seem like your perfect Saturday morning activity, but there are other fun ways to get active. Pick up a sport. Your university probably has a few sports teams, why not join one? You don’t have to be the best, you just have to show up. And if you don’t want to be competitive, you can start your own informal sports team and just use the campus facilities. Of course, if you’re not a team player, there are other options. Cycling can be a great way to get from A to B, as well as a fun hobby. You can go for day-long cycles or take up mountain biking if you prefer rockier surfaces. Just make sure you have the right gear, such as cycling shoes, so you don’t injure yourself. Having fun when you’re low on cash may seem difficult, but there are loads of options. You just have to get creative. Image: Pexels
