success There’s a quote which is often shared online. It says: “You have the same amount of hours in the day as Beyoncé.” This is powerful motivation for many young professionals, business people and entrepreneurs because it shows that we too can achieve and become successful. Not as successful as Queen Bey perhaps. But successful in our own right. Here are some other motivational quotations to inspire you to build your own empire. 1. Use your time wisely American author H. Jackson Brown Jr, known for his inspirational writing, famously said: “Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.” He had the same idea as whoever created that Beyoncé quotation. The point is that you are capable of doing whatever you’d like in life, provided you give it your all and make the most of the time given to you. Don’t spend five hours watching TV every night and then claim you don't have enough time. 2. Don’t expect opportunities to come to you This is your time to make things happen for yourself. You need to make the most of this time in your life by applying for as many internships and job opportunities as you can. Don’t expect for someone to approach you with an amazing job offer. It’s up to you to make this happen. American author Mark Twain said it best: “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.” 3. Don’t give up It’s important as you complete your studies, apply for jobs and make your way in the world of work that you continue even as you face challenges. You probably won’t get the first job you apply for. You might not even get the tenth position you apply for. If you’re an aspiring property mogul making use of a mortgage loan calculator to secure financing for your first investment rental, you need to continue trying even when the going gets tough. Remember, you won’t have success immediately, you might be knocked down a few times before you reach your goals. Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, also knew a thing or two about bouncing back from failure: “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” Thomas Edison, who invented the lightbulb and understood the importance of pursuing your dreams, said: “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” And, finally, a quote from British author CS Lewis, best known for his novel The Chronicles of Narnia. “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” Lewis seems to understand the nostalgia you feel as a young graduate about to enter the working world. His quote shows an understanding that you may have enjoyed your time at university, but the best is yet to come. Image: Pexels
