WhatsApp-Image-20160725-642x336 After loosing on a heavy score last week, NWU Mafikeng was not gonna let another team run all over them in their own backyard.  The Mafikeng outfit seemed well in place for their well deserved 3 - 2 win over University of Forthare in the second round of the 2016 Varsity Soccer tournament.  Speaking to VarsitySports after the match, the hosting team coach Amos Xabanisa said his team had "A well-deserved win for the team considering the painstaking and grueling training we underwent in preparation of this match and what better way to claim victory than to a packed stadium full of our supporters" “We missed quite a lot of chances. Everything we did, our passing and ball possession was good. We dominated on the pitch and put pressure on the team. Overall we played well. It will improve as we progress in the tournament,” added Xabanisa. The opening goal scorers on the day were Olwethu Bless of UFH within 12 minutes into the match then his opponent Sandile Mbatha on the 15th Minute of the match. UFH was toppled the lead when NWU-Maf's Katlego Banda scored the second goal for the platinum province boys. The boys from a University of legends, FortHare proved that they are in it to give the Mahikeng side a run for their platunum when Zondani Bathandwa equalised to make the score 2 -2.  It was not long after that when NWU-Maf were awarded a penalty and the Captain, Sipho Mateis took the responsibility of declaring his side winners on the day by making it 3 - 2. Although the weather was not favorable NWU-Maf supporters were out in numbers to support their team. The crowd cheered loudly as their side's first goal scorer Sandile Mbatha was named Man of the Match for his hard work on the day.  PhotCred: VarsityFootball
