Floating markets 

Bangkok is a city filled with a lot of interesting tourist attractions, and the floating market is one of them. Although the inner city has various luxurious shopping activities, take a trip out of the city and experience the unique shopping experience on floating boats.  Visiting the markets require you to wake up early in the morning to prepare for your journey. Many are discouraged by the long journey to these traditional markets, but luckily, there are waterways closer to the hustle and bustle of the city. In these markets, you can purchase fresh fruits and eat traditional meals prepared on the boats in no time. Some of the markets you should visit are the Damnoen, Amphawa and the Khlong Lat Mayom floating market.

Bangkok Forensic Museum 

You’ve probably been to many museums in your lifetime, but the Bangkok Forensic Museum is something you have never experienced. When you think of museums, you probably have a vision of an artsy display, but at the Bangkok Forensic Museum, all you will see is pathology and anatomic forensic. This is a must-see destination when you travel to Bangkok, but be warned, it will be one of the creepiest sights to see. The museum is situated inside Siriraj hospital and is subdivided into six district museums across two separate buildings. 

Chatuchak Market 

Markets are always a pleasure to visit on vacation. With a myriad of options to choose from, you are bound to find stunning items on a bargain. They are one of the biggest markets in Asia and are only held on the weekends. This market covers 27 acres of land with over 15 000 stores. If you’re looking to shop till you drop, the Chatuchak Market is the place to visit. The market opens on Fridays from 6 pm till midnight, as well as Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am till 6 pm. 

Khao San Road

Khao San Road might sound like an ordinary road, but it is certainly not. Here you can eat, party, sleep or stay, all on one road. You find a bit of everything, for example, scorpions and street food, fortune tellers, street parties, rooftops and market. Visiting Khao San road can easily turn from a midday activity of exploring to a party with an abundance of exotic food. 

China Town 

Although we might have China Town shopping centres in South Africa, they are definitely not the same as China Town in Bangkok. It is more than you might imagine, with many streets and stores where you can find almost item from food to clothing and tech gadgets. 

Golden Mount Wat Saket

One of the oldest temples located outside Rattanakosin island area in Bangkok is Wat Saket, the temple with the Golden Mount. The Golden Mount is a beautiful temple on an uphill, overlooking a scenic view of the city of Bangkok. Contrary to popular belief, the temple is situated on a man-made hill and is a well-known landmark and a sacred pilgrimage site. To reach the top, you will have to climb up 300 steps which encircle the Chedi. 

Lebua Sky Tower

If you’re looking to close off your vacation in style, visiting the Lebua Sky Tower is an experience you will never forget. Lebua Sky Tower is a rooftop bar situated in one of the highest points in Bangkok. It offers a mesmerising view when watching the sunset. Dubbed one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok, it has received worldwide recognition and numerous awards.
