Vaal University of Technology’s Department of Human Resource Management received an award for the best university in the National HR Standards Alignment. This prestigious award was received at the annual award ceremony of the SA Board for People Practice on 27 July 2016. The department which is headed by Dr Pierre Joubert has performed exceptionally well, as VUT was competing against all universities in the country, and successfully made it to the finals with the University of Pretoria and North West University, VUT was declared the overall winner. The National HR Standards were introduced in 2014, universities had to incorporate them into their syllabi and learning material. The Vaal University of Technology is the first University to offer qualifications in HRM that are 100% aligned with the SABPP HR Competency Model and the National HR Standards. This means that students will graduate with a qualification that is recognised by industry as well as the professional body. Dr Joubert expressed his excitement and pleasure in knowing that he leads a dynamic team that is willing to go the extra mile and is part of a University of Technology that is leading in this particular field.
