Second year LLB student Karabo Lekomanyane, (20), has been selected as a mentor at CampusKey Bloemfontein. As the leading provider of secure student accommodation, CampusKey’s model has been developed with the well-being of their students in mind.   Born and raised in Mahikeng, North-West Province, Lekomanyane moved to Johannesburg in her early teens. “I completed my schooling at MH Joosub Secondary school in Lenasia, and decided to study law as I want to lead a purpose driven life. I plan on becoming a human rights lawyer so that I can advocate for those that don’t have a voice or means to do it themselves. At the end of the day, I am because you are. Studying law isn’t easy, but with the necessary time management skills and dedication it becomes a little bit easier.”   As the sports mentor, Lekomanyane will need to ensure that CampusKey students are made aware of the benefits of keeping fit. “I accepted the position because I know that in health there’s wealth. Sports is undoubtedly one of the main contributors to living a healthy life. Not only is it good for you physically, but what is does for you mentally is nothing short of miraculous. I’d like to introduce more sports activities at CampusKey. To become and stay fit can be great fun as well as give us the opportunity to get to know each other.”   She thoroughly enjoys staying at CampusKey. “It’s such a vibrant community of students, offers excellent facilities and caters to our every need. I always feel safe, the staff members are friendly and the surroundings beautiful. You actually meet people you form sister- and brotherhoods with for life.”   An artist at heart, Lekomanyane spends some of her free time going to live, unplugged sessions of poetry and music. “I love singing and was CampusKey’s Got Talent 2018 winner. Other hobbies include binge watching series, movies and documentaries about anything Africa related,” she adds.   She is proud of the fact that she has made it this far in one piece. “Life hasn’t always been kind or easy but my ability to rise from the ashes like a phoenix is definitely my greatest achievement.  This year I want to excel academically, and do all my tasks and jobs with the utmost dedication. Luckily I’m a good time manager,” Lekomanyane concludes with a smile.   CampusKey offers locations throughout South Africa, including Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Potchefstroom, Pretoria and Stellenbosch.
